L’expérimentation au cœur des pratiques des artistes de la Galerie Binome permet de réunir huit personnalités reconnues pour leur capacité à régénérer le médium photographique. La recherche du volume, de l’illusion optique au bas-relief et jusqu’à la sculpture, relie les œuvres présentées. À travers la réappropriation de procédés historiques – plaques de verre négatives, lithophanies, photogrammes et collages – ou le recours à des techniques de pointe – brûlure laser, impression volumétrique et holographie – les œuvres érigent la surface photographique dans une épaisseur inhabituelle. Cette matérialité confère à chaque épreuve un caractère unique qui leur donne toute leur place dans cette édition du Bicentenaire de la Photographie.
Experimentation lies at the heart of the practices of Galerie Binome’s artists, bringing together eight established figures renowned for their ability to regenerate the photographic medium. Their works are united by an exploration of volume, from optical illusion and bas-relief to sculpture. Through the reappropriation of historical processes – glass plate negatives, lithophanes, photograms and collage – and the use of cutting-edge techniques – laser engraving, volumetric printing and holography – these works give the photographic surface an unusual depth and material thickness. This materiality lends each print a unique character, making them particularly well suited to this edition of the Bicentenary of Photography.
